De voorbije 10 dagen verbleef Britt in Rusland op een cruiseschip. Dagen gevuld met films kijken (meer dan 150!), feestjes bouwen en heel vol toffe mensen leren kennen. Hoera voor KROK filmfestival! Bovenstaande tekening – het dek van het cruiseschip waarop alle nachtelijke dansfeestjes plaatsvonden!
Er is een hoop gebeurd met de kortfilm Homemade de laatste maanden. Even op een rijtje: de film speelde in april in Barcelona en in mei in Mexico City. Op de planning staan: in juli Lago Film Fest in Italië en in september springen alle mannen op de boot van het KROK festival. Maar het grootste nieuws is dat de film het voorbije weekend de tweede prijs wegkaapte in de categorie 2D op het Scratch Film Festival! JOEPIE JOEPIE! Komende vrijdag (17 februari van 12u tot 13u30) vindt in de KASKcinema een gratis filmvertoning plaats van 5 korte documentaires. Deze zijn allen gemaakt in 2011 op 5 weken tijd tijdens een residentie in La Louvière. Dit in kader van het festival 5 sur 5, dat op 17 februari hun werking komt uitleggen! Want voor de editie van 2012 zijn ze op zoek naar nieuw jong talent voor regie, montage, klank en beeld. Een dikke aanrader voor wie ervaring wil opdoen of een stage zoekt.
Eén van de documentaires die vrijdag te zien is, is gemaakt door Britt. “Les Dernières Pièces” gaat over de fabriek Royal Boch die failliet is. De inwoners van La Louvière hebben elk een eigen band met de fabriek. Hun verhalen komen tot leven met behulp van stop-motion beelden van de keramiek.
Some news about the short(film) Homemade! During the month of february the cupboard-men have found a home at the website of amuseevous, an organization who wants to bring young people closer to culture. The cupboard-men feel nice and comfy there.

The documentary is almost finished! It became a combination of interviews, symbolized with stop-motion of the pottery pieces. It tells the story of the importance of the factory Royal Boch for the city La Louviere. And the current situation, with the destruction of the last building. The documentary can be seen the 1th october at cinema Stuart in La Louviere, no entrance fee. If you would love to come, just let us know and we will get you a seat! For the moment 50% of birdbee is making a documentary about the Royal Boch factory in La Louviere. Britt is an artist in residence for the 5 sur 5 festival. She has to finish the project in 5 weeks. This weekend Bert went for a visit & took some pictures of the factory. The premiere of the documentaries is on the 1st of october, in the La Louviere cinema. Everyone is welcome!
In 2011 Britt graduated as a master in animation. Her graduation film is called Homemade and tells the story of Bernadette, a woman who has some very strange kitchen utilities. The film depicts the relationship between men and women and shows how someone can feel very lonely even if they are surrounded by others. The sound design is by Kristof Deneijs (singer of the wonderful band Yuko). You can watch the film here!
During her research Britt drew a lot of kitchen-related illustrations. The technique she used for this were monoprints, which she transformed into animation in Photoshop. Also colour was added in Photoshop. After that, everything was put together in After Effects and the final editing and colour correction was done in Final Cut Pro.
Several characters were developed for the film. They all have their very own characteristics.

Meer nog, i like bird is de officiële introductiefilm voor dit nieuwe filmfestival.
Cinefringe is het filmluik van het Edinburgh Festival Fringe, één van ‘s werelds grootste kunstenfestivals.
